The mission continues

Anthropologist Margaret Mead said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Our goal at ReclaimKids has never been to affect global policy or world events, but we feel we can change the world for a child by giving them H.O.P.E. (Housing, Opportunity, Protection, and an Education). That has been our heart and soul since our inception in 2005, and it continues to inspire us every day.

The mission continues on November 10, 2016 as Clyde and Daphyne travel to Liberia to evaluate operations and hand out 800 Bibles donated by the Youth of Ohio. There are a number of exciting opportunities and projects ReclaimKids is involved with, including upgrading the clinic, improving our recently-completed library, and constructing a computer lab. We may be a small organization, but we are thoughtful, and we are most certainly committed. According to Margaret Mead, we have everything we need to change the world. Join Us.

Arrival

Great news from Liberia! The shipping container has arrived just in time for a new school year! The school supplies ReclaimKids distributes every year are are important for all of the children and schools we partner with, but for the children in the interior of Liberia, these supplies are absolutely essential – without them, It is doubtful that a majority of students would have the materials needed to be successful. Each year we look to contact and partner with a greater number of students and schools so we can help as many people as possible. It is truly an honor and a privilege to support Liberias youth and future!

Along with the school supplies, we have sent a rather impressive upgrade to the clinic in Paynesville in the form of two ultrasound machines! The ultrasound machines are a huge leap forward for the clinic, allowing them to see inside the human body and detect breeched babies, determine sex, detect ectopic pregnancies, see tumors, identify structural defects in the heart, and measure blood flow through the heart and major blood vessels.

These shipments to Liberia are having a dramatic effect on the lives of many, many people. The impact spreads with each shipping container we send, and has in fact eclipsed the reach of ReclaimKids as an organization. We were so thrilled to learn recently that the clinic in Paynesville has been regularly providing assistance to the government hospital in Monrovia when they are in need of supplies! What a wonderful testament to the generous and gracious staff we have there in Paynesville! We are immensely proud of them!

(WOW!) Bible Drive update!

Awesome. Incredible. Marvelous. These are just a few words that describe the results of our Bible Drive in February. Our booth at Midwinter was awash in a generous flood of donations. Youth Leaders and young people alike stopped by the booth to offer what they could, and wish us well as we take food, medicine, and the Word of God to precious people who desperately need it. And even though the drive is over, we are still seeing donations show up in the mail.

I want to say “Thank You” from all of us here at ReclaimKids to all those who gave, and are continuing to give. Your care and generosity warms my heart, and i can assure you it will be felt in a big way as we hand out the Bibles, and the children see your names on them. I am looking forward to sharing the hope we have in Jesus with as many young people as possible.

$2 Bible Drive

$2 Bible Drive

Happy New Year from ReclaimKids!

We are kicking this year off with an ambitious vision to join forces with every young person across the nation in an effort to put a bible in the hands of each child we work with.

“…a bible in the hands of each child…”

In order to accomplish this, we will be conducting a ‘$2 Bible Drive’ from now until February 28th. If everyone who reads this would donate just $2, our goal could be realized in just a few short weeks.

     What $2 can buy:
  • 1 can of Red Bull
  • 2 packs of gum
  • 10 lives in Candy Crush
  or
• A Bible for a child and their family to cherish for a lifetime

 

Not only do we want to extend the Word of God to as many people as possible, but we want to do it in a deeply personal way.  To this end, on the inside cover of each Bible, we will include the name of each person who donates.

We sincerely hope that you will make an effort to help us spread the Gospel of Christ in word and in deed around the world this year.
